In the middle of the 90es I was lucky enough not only to find an original Kit K 12, but also a model to cast the valve-cover with incorporated inlet-pipe.
I found an artisan (but he was an artist indeed) in Italy who modified some cylinder-heads to match with the original cover and with the identical remanufactured ones.

In contrast to the original heads from Abarth the inlet-pipes could be produced much larger and the valves were mounted off center so the yield was much better.

But the "production" in the foundries was difficult as the model asked for a very skilled person ...
and the machining was incredibly expensive.

I offered these parts for the cost of production and sold only a few as they were still expensive.
Some persons asked me for a discount in case they would take higher quantities and could not understand that a discount was impossible.
Finally I abandoned this project

Later, much later I sold the remaining spoiled castings nearly as expensive as the machined ones as the requests were so urgent.


About the year 2000 in Germany the small foundries closed down almost completely, so small series weren't affordable or practicable any longer. But I preferred to have cast in Italy anyway as the "middle quality"  at Modena exceeded the "best quality" I could reach at home.
Now, 2011 the situation in Italy unfortunately becomes similar to the situation in Germany.
I purchased the remains of a closing down foundry 2003 but I doubt I will start casting ever.
Some models are still existent as a beautiful memory.
